July 2003

Dear Saints:

Can you believe that the year is now officially half over? I trust you had a great 4th of July. All the fire works and barbeques are great but with me it’s the family and friends I enjoy the most. However a good steak on a grill comes in a close second!

The other day while Maria and I were walking our dog Hershey, or was it the other way around he was walking us? I’m not sure, but during the walk we saw this neat rabbit that Maria had seen early that morning in the park near where we live. Now there are a lot of rabbits that live in our neighborhood. We seem to on our street have a wild life preserve for squirrels and rabbits, especially rabbits. But this rabbit was unique. What made him stand out from all the other rabbits was his unique way of hopping. He would hop with only one foot, while the other foot stuck out at a 90 degree angle. He did this because he was deformed. But what interest me in this special rabbit was the fact he didn’t seem slowed down by the deformity. There was no way of knowing if this rabbit was born this way or if an accident had happen to him while he was just a bunny. One thing was for sure he wasn’t allowing his mishap to damper his mobility or his life. He could move just as fast as the (normal) rabbits. In fact he seem to not even notice that he was different from the rest of his friends he was hanging out with that night in our neighbor’s front yard. Seeing this rabbit encourage me to do the same with the bumps and bruises that life has given me along the way. We all face unique challenges that would handicap us from serving God and living a victorious life in Him. Some are more saver than others. I mean for a rabbit to have only one good hopping leg well that’s about as saver as it gets in the rabbit world. Sometimes these (hurdles) placed in our life’s are physical sometimes they can be emotional but either way we can live victorious despite them. I have named that rabbit Ray. Because he reminded me of another person who with only one leg lived a life of giving and encouragement to those that were around him. That was my Grandpa. He once hit golf balls with me at a range, just because he knew I would enjoy it. And I must say for having only one leg he could hit the ball great! Like my Grandpa and the rabbit I now call Ray don’t let what the world calls handicaps keep you from living victorious and with joy. For in some way we all have handicaps in our life’s to overcome. Let us be inspired by those who have shown us that we can live life to the fullest, and with God WE CAN DO ALL THINGS!! ! !

Don’t forget July 13th we have a pot luck dinner after the service that morning. Please bring what ever dish you would like. We will resume the Bible studies in the fall, have a great summer.

Looking forward to seeing you at His house
